Visit by our Wetzlar guests

Visit of our Wetzlar guests

As many of you are aware, we will be having a visit from 34+ from our Twin Town Wetzlar between Tuesday 28th May and Sunday 2nd June. Below I send you an outline of the arrangements, to help you plan.

We do hope as many of you as possible will be able to meet them during their visit. Two obvious opportunities will be on Wednesday 29th May, when there will be a concert with refreshments at the barn of Daniela Bechley, Old House, Oldhouse Road, Great Horkesley. The starting time will be 7.30 or 8 pm (to be decided) and the cost will be £5.

Secondly, on the evening of Friday 31st May, we have booked the conservatory restaurant at the 500-years-old Peldon Rose pub. We are in a process of organizing a menu and details will follow shortly.

On the 29th they plan to visit Flatford Mill and Dedham during the day. On the 30th they will be visiting London. There may be a few spare places on the coach if anyone would like to accompany them – which will nice. Ian McMeekan will be acting as guide. On the 31st there will be an opportunity for them to explore Colchester in the morning and then go to Mersea in the afternoon, where they will go to East Mersea Vineyard and also have an opportunity to visit the Hard (ie the front) and sample a few oysters. On the 1st they may go to Tiptree to visit Wilkinsons Jam factory. Unfortunately their coach is not available, so they will have to use public transport. Twinning Society members are welcome to join in any of these excursions.
